Pauper orchids
Pauper orchids is a genus of about twenty species. They are native to a region extending from India east to China and Japan, south to Indonesia, New Guinea and Queensland. Orchids in the genus Aphyllorchis are leafless, terrestrial, mycotrophic herbs. A few to many flowers are borne on an erect, usually fleshy, unbranched flowering stem. The flowers are resupinate, more or less cup-shaped.

Water: Originating from humid forests, pauper orchids thrives in consistent humidity and is moderately drought-tolerant. It requires weekly watering and benefits from increased ambient humidity, enhancing growth and flowering during its active season.
Propagation: Propagation of pauper orchids primarily relies on seed sowing; vegetative methods are unsuitable. Successful growth demands mycorrhizal partnerships, specific light, and temperature. Techniques mimic forest floor conditions. High difficulty due to low germination rates requires using sterile, nutrient-poor media and maintaining humidity and shade for seedling establishment.
