Carpetgrass are a useful genus of grasses, and many species are cultivated for turfgrass. They are also used to control soil erosion since they can establish themselves even in inferior soils. However, the free-growing nature of these grasses has led to several of them being classed as invasive species.
Water:
Carpetgrass thrives in moist tropical environments, preferring consistent hydration with weekly watering to maintain evenly moist soil. It tolerates brief dry spells but is mainly an outdoor grass, so seasonal rainfall should be considered to adjust its irrigation needs accordingly.
Propagation:
Carpetgrass can be propagated through seed sowing or division. Ideal temperatures are 15-24°C (60-75°F) in well-drained, organic-rich soil. Seed germination may vary; hence, dense sowing is recommended. For division, water well before separating clumps and replant at the same depth.
