Native to southern Africa, the Astridia genus is named after the wife Astrid of German botanist, Gustav Schwantes (1881-1960). Some members of astridia bear a resemblance to Corpuscularia lehmannii, but may be distinguished from the latter by their white flowers. Some species don't easily tolerate severe drought-like conditions.
Water:
Astridia flourishes in arid conditions, demonstrating excellent drought tolerance. Water every three weeks, ensuring the soil dries out completely. Adapted to xeric landscapes, astridia efficiently stores water during the growing season, minimizing the need for frequent irrigation.
Propagation:
Propagation of astridia occurs through seed sowing and cuttings, requiring suitable light, temperature, and well-draining soil. Mimicking native habitat is crucial. Cuttings involve allowing the end to callous, planting in a mix, and providing bright, indirect light while maintaining slight moisture until rooted.
