Baimashania pulvinata is a very small, spreading herb with a very limited range, growing high in the mountains. Only cataloged in 2000, it is a rare plant that can be found growing in rocky meadows or in crevices in the rocks themselves. It tends to spread over rocks and patches of ground in large mats given enough time, looking like a moss or lichen until it blooms--at which point the entire colony becomes a carpet of tiny, pale purple flowers.

Water:
Baimashania pulvinata thrives in high-altitude, moisture-retentive environments, exhibiting moderate drought tolerance. Watering weekly is essential for its health. As an alpine plant, baimashania pulvinata utilizes melting snow as its main water source, making it ideal for rock gardens and similar outdoor settings.
Fertilize:
To keep baimashania pulvinata healthy, apply high-nitrogen fertilizer bi-monthly in growth and quarterly in dormancy. Switch to a balanced blend during flowering. Water before fertilizing to prevent root burn, and adhere to recommended quantities. Wear gloves and wash hands after use for safety.
Pruning:
Baimashania pulvinata exhibits a compact growth habit and requires regular pruning, ideally between early to late spring. This practice enhances air circulation, encourages vigorous growth, and promotes abundant flowering. Use sharp, sterilized tools for clean cuts to avoid infections and remove dead or crowded stems.
Propagation:
Baimashania pulvinata thrives in high altitudes and is best propagated by cutting healthy, non-flowering shoots. Use cuttings with leaves, apply rooting hormone, and plant in well-draining soil. Keep moist and in indirect light; patience is essential as roots develop and new leaves emerge.
