Distribution Map
Wild olive is a plant with a native range that spans across parts of the Caribbean and northern regions of South America. While primarily found in these major regions, it has been introduced elsewhere, where in certain areas, it is sometimes thought to be potentially competitive with local flora. Its presence in non-native locations may have an impact on ecosystems there. The specifics of its cultivation are not a focus of this summary.

Water:
Originating from arid regions, wild olive exhibits exceptional drought tolerance and thrives in dry conditions. It requires infrequent watering, ideally every 2-3 weeks, making it ideal for xeriscapes and gardens focused on water conservation.
Fertilize:
For wild olive, use balanced nutrition fertilizer for growth and high-nitrogen fertilizers for vigorous vegetation. Apply monthly during growth and reduce in dormancy, using fist-sized quantities. Proper fertilization boosts health and flowering, but avoid root contact and over-fertilizing for best results.
Pruning:
Wild olive is a distinctive shrub with glossy, dark green leaves and fragrant flowers. Prune in early spring by removing dead wood and overgrown branches to promote new growth and air circulation. Regular pruning enhances structure and ornamental appeal, preventing pest infestations.
Propagation:
For wild olive propagation, use healthy stem cuttings (4-6 inches) at a 45-degree angle, including leaf nodes for root development. Dip in rooting hormone and plant in well-draining soil. Maintain consistent moisture and provide indirect light to promote root initiation.
