Brachyglottis is a genus of flowering plants in the aster family, Asteraceae. The genus is almost entirely native to New Zealand, except for B. brunonis, which occurs in Tasmania. There are about 39 accepted species names.
Water:
Brachyglottis thrives in well-draining soil and intermittent rainfall, showcasing high drought tolerance. Watering every 2-3 weeks is ideal, allowing the soil to dry. Preferring outdoor cultivation, brachyglottis retains leaf hydration year-round, enhancing resilience to varying moisture levels.
Propagation:
Propagate brachyglottis using semi-ripe cuttings in late summer. Success depends on well-draining soil, indirect light, and mild temperatures (15-20°C/59-68°F). Cuttings with a heel should be dipped in rooting hormone, planted in gritty compost, covered with plastic, and will typically root in weeks.
