Asian prince’s pine
The ground stem is upright and the height is 5 to 10 cm. The stem is single or sometimes branched. 2-3 leaves usually come together in a ring-like manner at each node of the stem, and scaly leaves are attached between each stage. The leaves are long oval or lanceolate with a length of 2 to 3.5 cm and a width of 5 to 13 mm. The flower stalk grows at the tip of the stem, has punctate fine hairs on the flower stalk, and has 1-3 egg-shaped oval folds. A flower usually has one, rarely two, and is slightly downward at the beginning, but goes up as it ripens as a fruit. The heel is split into 5 pieces, and the rupture piece is 6 to 7 mm in length. The tip is slightly sharp and remains until the end. The flower is white and 5 petals are regenerated, forming a wide bell shape with a diameter of about 1 cm. There are 10 stamens. The ovary is spherical and has no style, and the stigma is a flat circle. The fruit consists of 5 chambers of oblate-shaped fruits with a diameter of 6 to 7 mm, and the dorsal cell is cleaved.

Water: Originating from temperate forest understories, asian prince’s pine thrives in consistently moist conditions with good drainage. Water every 2-3 weeks, letting the soil dry slightly in between. As an evergreen, it retains leaf hydration year-round, ideal for managed indoor humidity.
Pruning: Asian prince’s pine thrives with careful pruning during its dormancy, from early to late winter. Remove dead branches to promote health and new growth. Thinning also enhances air circulation, reducing fungal risks. Regular pruning improves structure and aesthetics. Refer to local guidelines for specific practices.
Propagation: Asian prince’s pine is propagated from healthy stem cuttings with 2-3 leaf sets. Trim lower leaves, apply rooting hormone, and plant in peat-perlite mix. Maintain consistent moisture and warmth, mist regularly for humidity, and avoid direct sunlight to encourage root development.
