Chirita is an Old World genus of the flowering plant family Gesneriaceae, native to Indo-Malaysia, S. E. Asia, and southern China. About (80-)150 species were recognized, about 100 of which are endemic to China. Most of the species have showy tubular flowers with five, usually rounded, petal lobes.
Water:
Chirita is adapted to humid environments and prefers consistently moist soil, requiring weekly watering for optimal growth. Best suited for indoor cultivation, chirita thrives with regulated humidity, contributing to vibrant foliage during its active growing season.
Propagation:
Propagation of chirita can be achieved via leaf cuttings or seed sowing. Essential conditions include bright, indirect light, warmth, and well-draining soil. Leaf cuttings need a stem section and humidity. Seeds require surface sowing and moisture. Rooting takes 3-4 weeks; germination may take weeks to months.
