Chosenia is native to Korea, Sakhalin, Kamchatka and the Russian Far East. It has a sole member. It is a deciduous, willow-like wind-pollinated tree generally reaching a height of 20 to 30 m with a columnar crown and grey-brown peeling bark. The leaves have a very finely serrated to nearly entire margin, and an acuminate apex. The flowers are aggregated in pendulous catkins; it is dioecious, with male and female flowers on separate trees.
Water:
Chosenia originates from riparian zones and thrives in moist environments, tolerating wet soil. Watering should occur every 2-3 weeks to maintain its lushness. Adapted to seasonal water fluctuations, chosenia effectively manages both excess and limited water supply.
Propagation:
Chosenia is propagated through seeds sown in well-draining soil with adequate light and temperature for germination. Stratification may be needed to break dormancy. Collect and mimic natural conditions for seed sowing, maintain moisture, and wait for seedlings to develop before transplanting.
