Chrysogonum is a genus containing just one species, Chrysogonum virginianum, which is native to eastern North America. These plant's showy yellow star-shaped flowers make them popular garden additions. Their low growth form and spreading nature make them a good choice of ground cover.
Water:
Originating from moist, well-drained woodland soils, chrysogonum prefers high humidity and consistent moisture without waterlogging. Water weekly and utilize rainwater during the growing season for optimal health, as it's an herbaceous perennial typically grown outdoors.
Propagation:
Propagate chrysogonum through division or stem cuttings. For division, separate mature clumps in spring or fall. For cuttings, use non-flowering stems in spring, treat with rooting hormone, and plant in loamy soil. Maintain moderate light, consistent moisture, and temperatures between 16-21°C (60-70°F).
