Woodreeds are a genus of perennial grasses. Colloquially known as wood reeds, they are common to woodlands and wetland areas of the Americas and Eurasia, prefering moist soil conditions. Their scientific name, Cinna means 'grass'. This name was first coined by Ancient Greek physician Dioscorides.
Water:
Native to moist environments, woodreeds prefers consistently damp soil, requiring weekly watering to avoid waterlogging. Thriving in riparian zones, it benefits from natural water level fluctuations and seasonal rains, which support its lush foliage during the active growing season.
Propagation:
Propagation of woodreeds primarily involves division in spring or fall. Use suitable light, moderate temperatures, and moist, well-draining soil. Separate roots to keep multiple stems. Seed propagation is slower and less common. Ensure moisture without waterlogging during the process.
