Clavicipitaceae is a dangerously toxic tree. All parts, especially its small green berries, are poisonous. Poisoning can occur through skin or eye contact, leading to blistering, dermatitis, and keratoconjunctivitis. Ingestion causes burning mouth, abdominal pain, vomiting, diarrhea, dizziness, headaches, convulsions, and can be fatal. The toxins are phorbol, phorbol esters, and crotin.
