Commicarpus is a genus of flowering plants belonging to the family Nyctaginaceae. The genus contain some 30 to 35 species which are native to the tropics and subtropics. Most are found in Africa and western Asia, and eight species are native to southern Africa.
Water:
Commicarpus thrives in arid conditions, showing excellent drought tolerance. It requires minimal watering, typically every 2-3 weeks, allowing the soil to dry completely between sessions. Its efficient root system is suitable for xeriscaping and rock gardens, emphasizing water conservation.
Propagation:
Propagating commicarpus primarily involves seed sowing and stem cuttings. Key factors include adequate light, optimal temperatures, and well-draining soil. Techniques such as seed pre-treatment and rooting hormone for cuttings enhance success. Overall, propagation presents moderate difficulty with possible challenges in seed viability and rooting.
