Water: Yellow cypripedium prefers adequate moisture but can tolerate drought. Water weekly in summer and every 10 days in fall/winter. Maintain humidity by misting. Use neutral pH water; neutralize tap or rainwater by storing it, allowing dissolved substances to dissipate.
Fertilize: Yellow cypripedium requires minimal fertilizer. Use a nitrogen-rich fertilizer (N-P-K = 30-10-10) every 10 days after sprouting in spring. Switch to a balanced fertilizer (N-P-K = 20-20-20) in summer, and apply a phosphorus-rich fertilizer to encourage fall blooming.
Pruning: Yellow cypripedium thrives with careful pruning, ideally performed from early to late spring. Remove dead or damaged stems, avoiding cuts on live ones to reduce stress. This practice enhances blooming and vitality, ensuring a robust and aesthetically pleasing yellow cypripedium. Regular maintenance is essential for its health.
Propagation: You can propagate yellow cypripedium through division or cuttings. For division, do it post-bloom, ensuring roots remain intact. For cuttings, use 2-node segments, keeping the substrate moist. Roots will develop in 2-3 months. Alternatively, lay a stem on moist substrate to root before transplanting.
