A genus with a single species, dipogon are a south African native climber with beautiful flowers. A legume, its one species is often planted for its nitrogen-fixing abilities as well as as an ornamental. Unfortunately, it is a fast grower, chokes or crowds out other plants, and tends to escape cultivation. It has been declared a noxious weed in Australia and New Zealand.
Water:
Dipogon thrives in consistently moist environments and requires weekly watering to maintain its lush growth. It prefers evenly moist conditions, is sensitive to rainfall patterns, and is typically found outdoors due to its robust nature.
Propagation:
Propagation of dipogon involves seed sowing and cuttings. Success requires bright indirect light, warmth, and well-draining soil. Seed germination can be enhanced by scarification. For cuttings, maintain high humidity, use healthy stems, and root in moist potting mix. Rooting takes several weeks.
