Dryobalanops is a genus of flowering plants and the genus of family Dipterocarpaceae. The genus has seven species, confined to the tropical forests of West Malesia. It is among the most abundant species of emergent trees in these forests, growing up to 80 m tall.
Water:
Originating from humid tropics, dryobalanops thrives in high moisture environments and is drought tolerant. For optimal growth, water dryobalanops every 2-3 weeks. Typically grown outdoors, it benefits from mulching to retain soil moisture, mimicking its natural forest floor habitat.
Propagation:
Propagation of dryobalanops primarily occurs via seeds, requiring fresh seeds and high humidity for germination. Steps include sowing seeds at 2x their size depth, maintaining 25-30°C, keeping soil moist, providing bright, indirect light, and waiting weeks for germination before transplanting well-established seedlings.
