The dulichium genus contains only one species, Dulichium arundinaceum. Native to North America, these freshwater herbaceous perennials are often located in shallow water. Dulichium may be identified by their alternate leaves which spiral the stem in a cycle; making it look as though the plants have three columns when viewed from above.
Water:
Dulichium thrives in wetland environments, preferring moist conditions and high humidity. It requires weekly watering and does not tolerate drought well. As an aquatic plant, its growth is influenced by the surrounding water's pH, which affects nutrient availability and overall health.
Propagation:
Dulichium is propagated by division, ideal for its clump-forming nature. Use moist, well-drained soil with partial to full sunlight. Division is best in early spring or fall. Ensure each section has roots, replant at the same depth, and maintain consistent soil moisture until established.
