Water:
Strawberry hedgehog cactus is a drought-tolerant cactus native to arid regions, thriving with balanced water and surviving in dry environments. It requires watering every three weeks and retains water in its tissues year-round, making it ideal for areas with limited rainfall.
Fertilize:
Fertilize strawberry hedgehog cactus monthly at quarter strength with succulents and cacti food during spring and summer for improved blooms and growth. Avoid fertilizing in winter to prevent stress. Always apply after watering to avoid root burn and adjust based on strawberry hedgehog cactus's response and local climate.
Pruning:
Strawberry hedgehog cactus requires minimal pruning. Regularly remove withered flowers and branches to redirect nutrients towards healthy growth.
Propagation:
Strawberry hedgehog cactus, a desert-native cactus, propagates effectively through cuttings. Cut a healthy segment, let it callous, and place it in well-draining cactus mix. Keep warm and moderately moist, providing indirect light while monitoring for rot and pests to encourage strong growth.
Repotting:
Repot strawberry hedgehog cactus every 2 to 3 years in spring, using a slightly larger, shallow pot. Post-repotting, place strawberry hedgehog cactus in bright, indirect sunlight and water sparingly to prevent root rot, ensuring quick recovery and vigorous growth.
