Ehretia are a genus of flowering plants that grows naturally in Asia and Australia but has since been introduced to the Americas. Its Latin name Ehretia was named after botanist illustrator Georg Dionysius Ehret. It is also known to grow up to 27 m and its lumber is used for a variety of carpentry uses.
Water:
Adapted for dry environments, ehretia thrives under low moisture conditions, requiring watering every 2-3 weeks. Suited for arid climates, it efficiently utilizes infrequent rainfall, making it ideal for xeriscaping. Its root system maximizes water uptake during periods of scarce precipitation.
Propagation:
Propagation methods for ehretia include seed sowing, cuttings, air layering, and division. Optimal germination temperatures are 20-25°C. Use a well-draining soil mix. For cuttings, a 10-15 cm stem should be treated with rooting hormone, kept moist, and placed in bright, indirect light until rooted.
