Water:
Scarlet plume requires regular watering approximately once a week, particularly in growing seasons. During hot summer days, it may need more water. Water when the top 2 in (5 cm) of the planting medium is dry, and for indoor plants, maintain adequate moisture during resting seasons.
Fertilize:
Scarlet plume requires minimal fertilizer for growth, thriving even in poor, well-drained soils. Fertilization is only needed when lower leaves yellow, indicating nutrient deficiency. At this stage, apply half-strength liquid fertilizer to sustain the plant for several months.
Propagation:
Scarlet plume is mainly propagated through cuttings, as seeds are not commonly available. Wear gloves when handling cuttings, allow them to dry for 2-3 days, and use a soilless medium for planting. Maintain moisture and air circulation to prevent mold. Transplant when roots develop.
