Water:
Sandpaper fig thrives in dry climates, showing high drought tolerance and requiring watering every 2-3 weeks. It grows best outdoors, benefiting from natural rainfall. To optimize growth, plant sandpaper fig in well-draining soil to avoid root rot during wet seasons.
Fertilize:
For sandpaper fig, use a balanced fertilizer (10-10-10) during growth, switching to high nitrogen in peak periods. Fertilize every 4-6 weeks, following label recommendations. Reduce fertilization in fall/winter and avoid over-fertilization. Utilize slow-release formulations, and ensure soil moisture to prevent root burn.
Pruning:
Pruning sandpaper fig from early to late winter improves air circulation and sunlight penetration. Remove weak, damaged, or crossing branches, and use sharp, clean tools. Regular pruning helps maintain size, stimulates new growth, and enhances overall plant health.
Propagation:
Sandpaper fig propagates effectively via stem cuttings, with healthy stems and clean incisions enhancing rooting. Use well-draining soil, maintaining moisture without waterlogging. Indirect sunlight promotes root growth, and semi-ripe cuttings provide a balance of flexibility and maturity for optimal results.
