False mermaid are a single-species genus and due to their intolerance to heat, are restricted to areas with water seepage or ponds in shady woodlands. The flowers are small with slender, alternate leaves that are shiny and hairless. This little plant is known to either lay flat, attempt to grow erect, or be tangled in a clump.
Water:
False mermaid thrives in damp soil, requiring weekly watering to avoid waterlogging while showing moderate drought tolerance. It prefers outdoor cultivation, responding well to rainfall patterns, and mimics its native moist environment as an herbaceous plant in temperate regions.
Propagation:
Propagation of false mermaid primarily occurs via seed sowing post-ripening, requiring cool temperatures and moist, well-draining soil. Cold stratification may aid germination. Collect and surface sow seeds, lightly covering, and maintain moisture. Begin germination indoors in late winter for spring transplanting.
