Water:
Nilgiri strawberry prefers subtropical highlands with consistent moisture and cool climates. It efficiently manages water, requiring weekly watering to maintain hydration. As an evergreen, nilgiri strawberry necessitates steady moisture to support year-round foliage growth, particularly when grown outdoors to utilize natural rainfall.
Fertilize:
Nilgiri strawberry prefers fertile soil but should avoid over-fertilization to prevent root rot and poor fruiting. Use a balanced fertilizer (10-10-10) biweekly in summer and supplement with trace elements post-fruit. In pots, reduce fertilizer frequency due to faster drying.
Pruning:
Nilgiri strawberry produces bright red fruits and trifoliate leaves. Key pruning involves removing dead foliage and thinning old stems in early to late spring, enhancing growth and fruit production. Clean shears help prevent disease, promoting a healthy and productive plant.
Propagation:
Nilgiri strawberry, a perennial herb from South India, can be propagated by sowing fresh seeds in well-draining soil. Maintain consistent moisture and ambient temperatures for optimal germination. Transplant sturdy seedlings with care and provide regular watering and partial shade for healthy growth.
