Gliricidia are a small genus containing a handful of species of flowering trees. These small, deciduous trees are grown ornamentally for their elegant and profuse pink flowers. The tree also produces termite-resistant wood that is used to make furniture and also as a fuel source.
Water:
Gliricidia prefers moderate humidity and evenly moist soil, thriving in environments resembling its origin. It requires watering every two weeks and adapts to seasonal rainfall in tropical areas, necessitating adjustments in watering based on natural precipitation changes.
Propagation:
Propagation of gliricidia primarily involves seed sowing and cuttings. Seeds need scarification or hot water treatment for dormancy, while cuttings thrive in high humidity. For seeds, soak for 24 hours, sow in well-draining soil at 25-30°C. For cuttings, use semi-hardwood and maintain moisture and warmth.
