Unlike other plants sometimes included in the family Melianthaceae, greyia has simple (undivided) leaves, flowers with ten stamens, and ovaries with parietal placentation. It contains three species.
Water:
Greyia is a drought-tolerant plant adapted to arid regions, capable of thriving with minimal water and maintaining hydration in low humidity. Water greyia every 2-3 weeks, allowing soil to dry in between. Its resilience makes greyia suitable for various climate zones.
Propagation:
Propagation of greyia occurs via seed sowing or semi-hardwood cuttings, requiring light, temperatures of 15-20°C (59-68°F), and well-draining soil. Techniques include seed scarification and rooting hormones. Challenges include seed viability and rooting consistency. Maintain moisture and protect cuttings from intense sunlight.
