Water:
Expanded lobsterclaw thrives in high humidity and has moderate drought tolerance. It prefers consistent moisture, requiring weekly watering for optimal growth. Typically grown outdoors, it is an evergreen plant needing careful watering during the growing season to maintain vibrant foliage.
Fertilize:
For optimal growth, expanded lobsterclaw benefits from high phosphorus fertilizers applied monthly during the growing season, tapering in winter. Start with half-strength solutions and monitor for over-fertilization. Water thoroughly after fertilizing and adjust nutrient levels seasonally, as expanded lobsterclaw needs more during spring and summer.
Pruning:
Expanded lobsterclaw showcases vibrant bracts and elongated leaves. Pruning in early spring to late winter is essential for health, focusing on dead foliage and spent stems. Regular pruning enhances vigor and appearance. Use clean, sharp tools and avoid excessive cutting to reduce stress.
Propagation:
Expanded lobsterclaw is propagated using cuttings from healthy shoots with 2-3 nodes. Use a sharp tool to minimize damage. Place cuttings in well-draining soil with high humidity and warmth. Maintain consistent moisture without waterlogging to prevent rot.
Repotting:
Expanded lobsterclaw flourishes with striking blooms and requires repotting every 2-3 years in spring. Use a large, well-draining pot, and after repotting, ensure high humidity and filtered light to promote recovery and maintain health for vibrant flowers.
