Hevea is a genus of flowering plants in the spurge family, Euphorbiaceae, with about ten members. Trees in this genus are either deciduous or evergreen. The leaves consist of three, usually elliptical, leaflets which are held horizontally or slightly drooping in most species. The inflorescences have separate male and female flowers, with the females being at the end of the panicles. The fruits are capsules, usually with three seeds. The genus is native to tropical South America but is widely cultivated in other tropical countries and naturalized in several of them.
Water:
Hevea thrives in humid, tropical environments and has a moderate drought tolerance. It prefers stable moisture without waterlogging and should be watered biweekly. Primarily an outdoor plant, its growth cycle is influenced by the rainy season, necessitating regular, moderate watering.
Propagation:
Hevea is propagated through seed sowing and budding/grafting. Seeds should be sown in well-draining soil at 25-30°C with high humidity. For budding, healthy budwood is necessary. Ensure disease control and follow precise techniques for successful propagation. Maintain moisture and transplant established plants.
