Water:
The wax vine requires infrequent watering, more frequent from late spring to summer, about every two weeks. In winter, water monthly, ensuring soil doesn’t fully dry. It thrives in high humidity, benefiting from bathroom steam or by misting and using a gravel tray with water.
Fertilize:
For optimal growth of wax vine, use a nitrogen-rich fertilizer for lush foliage. Two months before blooming, switch to a phosphorus-rich fertilizer, then revert after blooming starts. Fertilize once monthly from spring to autumn, and cease during winter.
Pruning:
Pruning wax vine is unnecessary; new growth occurs at the ends of tendrils, promoting flowers under ideal conditions. Light trimming in early spring can control size and remove dead growth, but severe pruning is detrimental and should be avoided outside this period.
Propagation:
To propagate wax vine, take cuttings in spring or summer. Use rooting hormone, plant in well-drained potting mix, and maintain moisture. It typically takes about two years for the cutting to mature and possibly start blooming.
