Water:
The wax plant requires infrequent watering, more so from late spring to summer, about every two weeks, ensuring good drainage. In winter, water monthly, maintaining soil moisture. It thrives in high humidity, ideal in bathrooms, or use misting and gravel tray methods for humidity preservation.
Fertilize:
For optimal care of wax plant, use a high-nitrogen fertilizer monthly from spring, halting in winter. Two months prior to blooming, switch to a high-phosphorus fertilizer to enhance blooms. Once blooming starts, revert to high-nitrogen fertilizer for continued health and vibrancy.
Pruning:
Pruning of wax plant is unnecessary; new growth occurs at the tendril ends, promoting flower development. Light trimming may be done in early spring to manage size or remove dead growth, while severe pruning is discouraged and other times should be avoided.
Propagation:
Propagating wax plant is best done using cuttings in spring or summer. To ensure success, dip cuttings in rooting hormone, plant them in a well-drained mix, and maintain moisture. Maturity and potential blooming take approximately two years.
