Water: Different bearded iris 'Kent Pride' species have varying water needs: Bearded bearded iris 'Kent Pride' requires minimal watering, only when soil is dry, while Siberian bearded iris 'Kent Pride' thrives in consistently moist conditions. Most bearded iris 'Kent Pride' are sensitive to standing water; poorly drained soil can lead to root rot.
Fertilize: Bearded iris 'Kent Pride' thrives in humus-rich soil. Fertilize in early spring, early fall, and before blooming with phosphorus-rich fertilizers (5-10-5 NPK) or balanced options (20-20-20). Organic fertilizers are beneficial for soil health. Water immediately after fertilizing to enhance nutrient absorption.
Pruning: Bearded iris 'Kent Pride' features vibrant flowers; prune spent blooms and damaged leaves in early to late spring for optimal health. This encourages growth and prevents fungal issues. Use sterilized tools to avoid infections, and regular pruning enhances the plant's vigor and bloom display.
Propagation: Propagate bearded iris 'Kent Pride' by division 2-3 months post-bloom. Use a sharp knife, ensuring each division has a 15 cm-long rhizome. Remove old parts and trim leaves to 15 cm. Space plants 30 cm apart; for dwarf varieties, reduce to 15 cm.
