Water:
Grass pea thrives in Mediterranean climates and shows moderate drought tolerance. It requires weekly watering for optimal growth, preferring well-drained conditions. Although adaptable to indoor environments, it needs sufficient moisture during its active growing season to support foliage and flowering.
Fertilize:
Grass pea thrives with high phosphorus fertilizers for root and bloom enhancement. Apply a balanced mix at the growing season's start, then switch to phosphorus-rich formulas every 4-6 weeks. Water thoroughly post-fertilization to prevent root burn and adjust based on soil tests.
Pruning:
Prune grass pea when branches reach 15 cm to encourage lateral growth and more flowers. Deadhead to save nutrients for bud production. Support grass pea with stakes or nets at least 2 m tall for climbing; it can reach 1-2 m in a season without support, it grows to 0.8 m.
Propagation:
Grass pea thrives in poor soil, requiring well-drained conditions for growth. Sow seeds directly outdoors in full sun, at double their size depth, ensuring good soil contact. Water until moist, and thin seedlings to prevent overcrowding, promoting healthy development.
