Water: Water slender blazing star sparingly when bulbs sprout to prevent diseases; excess moisture can harm. Increase water as growth resumes, keeping soil moist. Reduce watering in winter to avoid soggy conditions that encourage disease during overwintering.
Fertilize: The slender blazing star generally does not require fertilizer if grown in healthy soil. However, a little all-purpose or slow-release fertilizer can be beneficial in spring if growth is slow or at planting time to support initial growth, especially in less rich soils.
Pruning: Slender blazing star thrives with early spring pruning, cutting old stems back to ground level to enhance blooming and appearance. Regularly remove spent flowers for continuous blooms, and prune lightly to prevent overcrowding, ensuring good air circulation for improved vigor and ornamental appeal.
Propagation: Slender blazing star is best propagated through division in spring by separating large bulbs with a clean knife. Cut foliage back to 10-15cm for easier digging. Ensure each new bulb has at least one eye. Seed propagation is possible but slower to establish.
