Water: Italian toadflax is drought-resistant once mature but needs care until established. Maintain moist soil while ensuring good drainage, as poor drainage can harm the plant. After establishment, it requires about 1 inch (2.54 cm) of water weekly or less.
Fertilize: The italian toadflax thrives without fertilizer, which may reduce blooming despite promoting lush leaves. Mixing organic compost into the planting soil provides additional nutrients during establishment and enhances soil drainage.
Pruning: The italian toadflax requires minimal pruning but needs maintenance to control its invasive nature, potentially producing 500,000 seeds in its lifetime. To manage its spread, pinch flowers before seeding or cut plants by 2/3 post-bloom. Manual removal of roots is effective for plants out of place.
