Luculia is a genus of flowering plants in the family Rubiaceae. The species are shrubs or small trees, generally found on upland scrub and woodland or forest margins. They have large leaves with prominent veins carried in opposite pairs. The inflorescence is a terminal umbel or corymb of tubular/open ended white, pink or creamy flowers with 5 spreading petals. It is currently found from the Himalayas to southern China.
Water:
Luculia originates from the Himalayas and prefers consistent moisture and well-draining soil. It thrives in high humidity and should be watered every 2-3 weeks, allowing soil to partially dry. Often grown indoors, luculia benefits from stable conditions for optimal growth and flowering.
Propagation:
Propagate luculia using seeds or semi-ripe cuttings in well-draining, organic soil. Ensure bright, indirect light and consistent warmth (16-24°C / 60-75°F), while maintaining high humidity. Difficulty is moderate due to slow germination and rooting, necessitating careful moisture management.
