Musella is the sole species in the genus musella. It is known for its erect, yellow pseudostems, that can last a few months. Just before opening, the yellow, flower-like pseudostem resembles a lotus - from which the plant gets one of its names. The plant is native to the Yunnan province in China.
Water:
Musella prefers conditions resembling its subtropical habitat, with moderate humidity and periodic drought. Water every two weeks to prevent overhydration. Thriving outdoors, musella requires well-draining soil to avoid waterlogging while maintaining balanced moisture levels.
Propagation:
Propagation of musella involves division in spring and seed sowing post-frost. Sow seeds in a sandy mix at 68°F (20°C), keeping soil moist. Remove seeds' hard outer layer for better germination. Division is easier but requires care and patience for seedlings to mature.
