Balsa tree actually contain only one species: a large, fast-growing tree that can grow up to 30 m tall. This unique tree has been harvested for its wood both locally and industrially. The wood was originally used for making boats and rafts; its common name, balsa, is the Spanish word for "raft". Today it is most commonly used for model-making as its light, soft wood holds details well. It has also been used in movies to create furniture for fight scenes, as it is both brittle and too light to do much harm.
Water:
Balsa tree thrives in high humidity and prefers consistently moist soil, ideally watered every 2-3 weeks. While moderately drought-tolerant, it should avoid waterlogged conditions. Proper soil drainage is essential, particularly during heavy rainfall, to prevent root rot.
