Oncidium is a very large and diverse genus of orchids native to tropical and subtropical Americas. They are extremely popular indoor orchids and are commonly found in florist arrangements. Dancing-lady orchids have been readily hybridized and they're probably the most interbred orchids in the world. They were named "Dancing-lady orchids" for their dance-like fluttering in the wind.
Water:
Dancing-lady orchids thrives in humid environments, requiring watering twice a week and regular misting to maintain moisture. As an epiphyte, it enjoys high humidity and can tolerate moderate drought, making it ideal for indoor cultivation in conditions that mimic its tropical rainforest habitat.
Propagation:
Propagation of dancing-lady orchids involves division and back bulb methods, requiring high humidity, warmth, and bright, indirect light. Use a well-draining mix and sterilized tools. Ensure each division has roots, and maintain care conditions until new growth appears, as propagation can be moderately challenging.
