Mirror orchid is pollinated by a single wasp species, the scoliid wasp. They are drawn in by the plant's flower, which shares a similar appearance to the female wasp. The blue part of the flower's lip gives the appearance of a blue sky reflected on the wasp's wings, and it's this that gave the plant its common name Mirror orchid.

Water:
Adapted to Mediterranean climates, mirror orchid thrives with minimal watering, requiring weekly hydration to balance its moisture retention. Preferring outdoor natural light, it is resilient during the growing season, aligning water needs with ambient humidity and occasional rainfall.
Fertilize:
For optimal growth of mirror orchid, use balanced fertilizers (20-20-20) during active growth and high phosphorus formulas pre-bloom, applying quarterly at half-strength. Reduce frequency in winter and water first to prevent root burn. Novices should follow instructions, while experienced gardeners can adjust based on mirror orchid's response.
Pruning:
Mirror orchid features striking blue and yellow flowers, requiring minimal pruning. Ideal timing is early to late spring. Remove spent flowers and damaged leaves to promote health and airflow. Use clean, sharp tools and handle gently to prevent stem damage. Consult local guides for tailored advice.
Propagation:
Mirror orchid is propagated by division during its dormant phase, minimizing stress. Each division must contain at least one growth point and should be potted in a well-draining, aerated medium that resembles mirror orchid's natural environment to promote healthy growth.
