Water: Originating from the Mediterranean basin, provence orchid thrives in wet winters and dry summers, needing weekly watering. Adapting well to drought, it prefers moderate humidity during growth. Potted in well-draining soil resembling its native limestone environment, provence orchid flourishes indoors due to its ornamental appeal.
Fertilize: Provence orchid requires minimal fertilization. Initially, use a nitrogen-rich fertilizer (N-P-K = 30-10-10) every 10 days post-sprouting in spring. Transition to a balanced fertilizer (N-P-K = 20-20-20) in summer. For enhanced blooming in fall, a phosphorus-rich fertilizer is beneficial.
Pruning: Provence orchid thrives with light pruning in early to late spring post-frost. Focus on dead stems and spent spikes to enhance airflow and encourage blooms. Minimal pruning prevents stress, supporting healthy growth and prolific flowering throughout the season.
Propagation: Provence orchid is a terrestrial orchid found in European meadows and woodlands. Propagation is best through division of tubers or rhizomes during dormancy. Use a rich, organic soil mix, ensuring indirect light and consistent moisture without waterlogging for optimal growth.
