Majorcan peony
Paeonia cambessedesii is a clump-forming, perennial, herbaceous peony, which dies down in the autumn, and overwinters with buds just under the surface of the soil, and may reach a height of 25 to 60 cm. The reddish purple stem carries several alternately arranged leaves. The lowest leaves consist of nine leathery, hairless leaflets which are lanceolate to inverted egg-shaped with a pointy tip.

Water: Majorcan peony thrives in a Mediterranean climate, preferring infrequent watering every 1-2 weeks, allowing it to tolerate short droughts. It flourishes outdoors, benefiting from seasonal rainfall. As an herbaceous perennial, consistent moisture during the growing season is vital for optimal blooming and health.
Fertilize: To care for majorcan peony, apply fertilizer three times annually: in early spring before the first watering, 15 days after flowers wither, and in fall/winter. Use shallow ditches for application, avoid high-concentration fertilizers, fecal water, and summer fertilization to prevent damage.
Pruning: Majorcan peony has vibrant blooms and a compact growth. Prune in early spring, removing dead or crowded stems to enhance air circulation and flowering. Cut back leggy growth for shape. Consult resources like RHS for further pruning guidance.
Propagation: Majorcan peony, a herbaceous perennial from the Balearic Islands, thrives with lush foliage and vibrant blooms. Propagate by division after blooming, ensuring each segment has a growth bud. Use well-draining, organic-rich soil and maintain consistent watering for optimal root establishment and flowering.
