Tropical peltophorum are prized as ornamental plants in gardens and shade trees in parks. The trees grow lovely yellow flower bunches in the summer which turn into seed pods. These flowers can support bee colonies with their high nectar and pollen production. Meanwhile, the wood can be used as fuel or in carpentry.
Water:
Originating from tropical regions, peltophorum is drought-tolerant and prefers consistent moisture without waterlogging. Water approximately every two weeks, emulating its natural monsoon habitat. Typically grown outdoors, it thrives when soil moisture levels reflect its evolutionary adaptations.
Propagation:
Propagation of peltophorum primarily involves seed sowing, with cuttings as an alternative. Soak seeds for 24 hours, use well-draining soil, and provide light and warmth (70-85°F / 21-29°C). Protect seedlings from frost and transplant once hardy. Propagation can be moderately challenging due to dormancy.
