Pleurozium is a small genus of mosses that have some of the most widespread mosses around; though they have a cosmopolitan distribution, their occurrence is limited to the temperate to subarctic climate zones. These small mosses have a creeping primary stem while the secondary stems are erect. Thanks to this kind of growth form, pleurozium typically form carpets on the forest floor.
Propagation:
Pleurozium is primarily propagated through clump division. Success requires a moist environment, partial to full shade, and cool temperatures. Ensure rhizoids remain intact, and divide during damp weather. Replant in acidic, well-draining soil, maintaining moisture while avoiding direct sunlight and heat.
