White sugarbush
The white sugarbush stands out with its large, showy flowers that are representative of the Protea family, exhibiting a range of hues from creamy white to pale pink. It sports a thick stem and leathery leaves that speak to its resilience in the fire-prone fynbos regions where it thrives. Adapted to poor soils, white sugarbush lures pollinators with its prominent blooms, playing a vital role in its ecosystem.

Water: Water your white sugarbush every couple of weeks under low rainfall once established. Newly-planted white sugarbush require weekly watering. For container-grown white sugarbush, allow soil to slightly dry before watering again to prevent root rot.
Pruning: Prune white sugarbush in early spring to enhance growth and blooms. Remove dead or crossing branches for better airflow and disease prevention. Trim about a third of last year's growth to maintain shape and size, promoting a robust and attractive plant with vigorous flowering.
Propagation: Propagate white sugarbush using cuttings from previous year's side branches, taken in spring or fall. Remove the bottom 2/3 leaves, dip in rooting hormone, and plant in a mix of coarse sand and peat moss. Keep moist and shaded; rooting can take up to 6 weeks.
