Water: Taiwan cherry flourishes in humid environments and prefers balanced moisture, requiring weekly watering for optimal growth. As a deciduous plant, it sheds leaves during the dry season to conserve water, showcasing moderate drought tolerance and adaptation to its native Taiwanese rainforest habitat.
Fertilize: Taiwan cherry requires fertilization for healthy growth and fruit production. Use organic fertilizer in a circular trench (depth: 38 cm, width: 28 cm) around the crown. Fertilize twice yearly: before blooming for flowers and during fruit growth to enhance yield.
Pruning: Taiwan cherry is a deciduous tree admired for its pink blossoms. Prune in early spring to shape and remove dead branches while avoiding excessive cuts that may hinder flowering. Sharp, clean tools ensure effective pruning, promoting air circulation and sunlight penetration for healthy growth.
Propagation: Taiwan cherry is ideal for small gardens and can be propagated from healthy, non-flowering cuttings of 4-6 inches. Use a peat-perlite mix, burying a node, and maintain consistent moisture and warmth. A plastic cover can minimize evaporation for better rooting success.
