It differs from most other Loranthaceae genera by its large flowers and bulky haustorial connections to its host, and by its large fruits. Its flowers frequently "light up the host tree in brilliant hues of red or red and yellow". It is a type of mistletoe native from central Mexico southwards to Central America and parts of South America.
Water:
Originating from arid regions, parrot-flower thrives with minimal moisture, requiring watering every 2-3 weeks. It prefers well-draining soil and is adapted to seasonal rainfall, benefiting from occasional deep watering during prolonged dry spells.
Propagation:
Propagation of parrot-flower occurs via seeds and cuttings. Successful propagation requires bright indirect light, warmth, and high humidity. Use well-draining soil and consider the plant's epiphytic nature. For cuttings, apply rooting hormone and maintain conditions until roots form; sow seeds shortly after collection.
