Sages 'Tanzerin'
Sages 'Tanzerin' is named for the German word 'tänzerin', which means 'female dancer'. The tall, elegant purple flower spikes of this ornamental sage certainly do seem to have a dancer's grace and poise. In contrast with other sages, this hybrid has brighter flowers. It is a low-maintenance, easy-to-grow garden performer so popular that it has received the Royal Horticultural Society's Award of Garden Merit.

Water: Drought-resistant varieties of sages 'Tanzerin' need minimal watering, primarily during drought. Tender varieties and young plants require regular watering of approximately 2.5 cm (1 in) every 7-10 days to prevent soil from fully drying out.
Fertilize: In rich or clay soils, sages 'Tanzerin' requires no fertilizer, while in poor soil, adding a little compost is beneficial. A slow-release fertilizer can be used when planting, but excessive fertilizer may lead to rapid growth and instability.
Pruning: Prune sages 'Tanzerin' in early to late spring, removing dead stems and cutting back one-third of its height for bushier growth and more flowers. Deadheading enhances blooming, while heavy fall pruning can disrupt dormancy. Regular pruning boosts sages 'Tanzerin''s vigor and visual appeal.
