Sapium lateriflorum produces flowers without petals and produces latex. This plant is found widespread across Central America and central and southern Mexico, where it is called "yos" or "ios", words derived from the now-extinct Guetaru language, and its milky sap is used as a way to attract birds. Because of the appearance of its sap, it is also commonly called a "milk tree".
