The giants of the botanical world, sequoia include among their ranks some of the largest trees on earth. These trees can grow to heights over 107 m, reach diameters of over 6 m and have been known to live for over two thousand years! Though many sequoia are protected in national parks, national forests, state parks, and other reserves, some are still harvested for their wood. The wood is incredibly fire and rot-resistant and is used to make shingles, siding, and outdoor decking.
