Succulent & Cactus Soil
Soil Type
Water: Shoreline purslane thrives in well-drained, sandy soils of saline coastal areas. This succulent is highly drought-tolerant, needing water only once every three weeks. It is an evergreen suitable for xeriscaping and seaside gardens, requiring minimal supplemental watering due to its moisture retention abilities.
Fertilize: Most succulents, including shoreline purslane, thrive in nutrient-poor environments and typically do not require fertilization. If desired, a slow-release fertilizer can be applied in early summer. Avoid fertilizing during dormancy, as excess nutrients can harm its growth.
Pruning: Shoreline purslane is a resilient ground cover with succulent leaves, thriving in saline conditions. Pruning in early to late spring promotes denser growth, removes damage, and manages spread, enhancing health and appearance. This makes shoreline purslane an excellent choice for coastal landscapes.
Propagation: Shoreline purslane propagation is achieved through cuttings from healthy, non-flowering stems with at least one node. Use sharp, sterilized tools, allow segments to dry for a day, and plant in well-draining soil. Maintain moisture and sunlight for successful rooting, resulting in resilient plants.
