Stellera has a single species, found in mountainous regions of central and south Asia. Stellera is a perennial plant. Unbranched stems, 20 to 30 cm tall, emerge in a cluster from an underground rhizome. Individual leaves are narrow and pointed. The flowers are grouped into rounded tightly packed terminal heads. The flower colour varies from shades of pink and white to yellow. The fruit is a dry drupe, enclosed by the remains of the calyx.
Water:
Stellera thrives in moderate climates, requiring weekly watering to keep the soil evenly moist but not waterlogged. Its moisture needs vary seasonally, with consistent moisture supporting growth during active periods. Suitable for outdoor cultivation, stellera adapts well to its natural habitat conditions.
Propagation:
Propagation methods for stellera include seed sowing and cuttings. Success depends on well-drained soil, adequate light, and suitable temperatures. Cold stratification may be needed for seeds. For cuttings, use a healthy stem, rooting hormone, sandy soil, and maintain moisture and warmth until rooting.
